FAQ's

Are your products safe for all dogs regardless of breed / age?

Our products are formulated with premium, natural ingredients and are safe for all dogs. However, we recommend consulting with your veterinarian before starting any new supplement, especially if your dog has existing health conditions.

How do I know how much to give my dog?

Our supplements come in a convenient sprinkle form. Sprinkle 3-9 shakes over your pet's food, 1-2 times daily.

  • Dogs 10kg & less: 3 shakes (½  tsp) = 1 g
  • Dogs 10-20kg: 6 shakes (1 tsp) = 2g
  • Dogs over 20kg: 9 shakes (1 ½ tsp) = 3g

Can I sprinkle all three supplements onto my dog’s food?

Yes, if your dog has multiple conditions then it is possible to use multiple Pawshakers products as required.

I’ve added more than the guideline recommends, is it still safe for my dog?

The ingredients used in Pawshakers are classified as being suitable for nutritional supplementation, so they are quite safe when used in the typical doses recommended, eg 3 - 9 shakes (½  – 1 ½ tsp) per day.  If the amount administered is greatly in excess of the recommended dosage range, then please consult your veterinarian.

Where are your products made?

All of our Pawshakers products are developed and produced in Oamaru, New Zealand. We take pride in crafting our supplements in this beautiful seaside farming town, using only the best ingredients.

Where are the ingredients sourced from?

The freeze-dried meat, freeze-dried liver, freeze-dried greenlipped mussel, and fish bone calcium are all produced in the clean and green South Island of New Zealand.  The yeast, herbal, mineral and vitamin ingredients are produced in North America and Asia.

My dog is sensitive to beef and chicken, can they still have Paw Shakers?

Pawshakers Skin and Coat Support is completely free of beef or chicken so may be used with confidence for dogs who cannot tolerate beef of chicken containing foods.

Pawshakers Joint Health Support and Pawshakers Gut Health support both contain beef and chicken ingredients so would not be suitable for dogs who cannot tolerate beef or chicken containing foods.

Can I use Pawshakers as a preventative?

Absolutely!  Proactive prevention of concerns is a great way to support a healthy dog.

What are the small round white granules in Pawshakers Joint Health Support and Pawshakers Skin & Coat Support?

The white granules are encapsulated Vitamin E and look quite different from the other coloured ingredients.

Are Pawshakers medicines?

No, Pawshakers are not medicines, rather they are classified as Nutritional Supplements for pets, as assessed by the Class Determination Process by the New Zealand Ministry of Primary Industries (MPI).
